69 Camaro Rebuild

This was the scene immediately after Parry’s crash in Masterton.  Not a pretty sight.  Fortunately with our wonderful family, crew and friends on hand the car was removed quickly and put into storage.  The crew not wanting Parry to see the car in its very badly damaged state set to work the next day in stripping down the car.  Reusable bits were kept, broken bits were put to one side and a list compiled of exactly what was needed to get the car back on the track.

We have been humbled with the good wishes sent in to Parry and the amount of offers of help we have received.  The rebuilding of the car will take place with the hope it will be back on the track in January 2011.  This part of our site will be dedicated to giving you all an update on progress as it takes place.

Front suspension, steering parts and rims arrive in June 2010 and it will be at this time the chassis can go back on the jig for the big rebuild.  The whole front of the chassis will be removed and replaced, the main hoop will be replaced but the rest of the chassis is intact and reusable.

Acknowledgement and thanks has to go out to Simon Ingle and Craig Bennett who are on the crew.  Simon has led the charge with regard to sourcing new parts for the car and  Craig Bennett through his business Hawera Automotive has also secured product sponsorship through his many contacts.

Parry’s recovery has been slower than anticipated with more injuries becoming apparent as time went by.  Acknowledgement and appreciation has to go out to our crew and John McGinty.  Without these guys little progress on the car would have taken place. We’re still on track to be back out there in early 2011.
