the crew
No car can run without the support of the crew. I have been fortunate to have some top notch guys and girls join me in the team to run the rs 69 camaro.
They are:
Parry Hunt - driver
Parry has built, tuned, raced and crewed for many cars over the years with the 69 camaro being his latest project. Pulling this car and team together has been a long term goal for Parry and he is elated that it has finally come to fruition and that he has secured a high calibre team to compete in the competitive New Zealand top doorslammer class. Parry is an engineering manager with New Zealand’s largest transport and military engineering company. With wife Kerry they are determined to run the team in the most professional way to bring further credibility to the sport of drag racing as well as including extended family members and friends to make it a family focussed event.
Kerry Hunt – detail, data collection, website, merchandising, team support
Kerry looks after the technical details and logistics of the team as well as assisting where there is a shortfall. Kerry has supported Parry over the years in his drag racing endeavours and is pleased that they can now race the 69 camaro along with their family and friends. Kerry’s daytime job is as board secretary and executive assistant at the Families Commission.
Rhiannon Hunt – towing, team support
Rhiannon has grown up with drag racing attending meetings before she was born. Apart from towing Rhiannon supports the team where there is a shortfall to ensure everything runs smoothly. Rhiannon’s daytime job is in administration at Statistics New Zealand and as mum to the youngest member of the team – our granddaughter Brooke.
Bryony and Eithne Hunt – team support and entertainment
Bryony has a hectic social life and attends some meetings providing invaluable support to team members and her Dad. Eithne is learning how to participate and engage in drag racing. She has driven in the junior dragster class and hopes to be back with a new car in the 2010/11 season.
Hayden Thomas – starting, tyres, wheelie bars, all rounder
Hayden is the newest recruit to the team and relatively new to drag racing – he has enthusiasm to burn which we endeavour to harness effectively. He is constantly challenging the thinking and coming up with new ideas – some of them we develop. Hayden’s daytime job is as a professional tyre technician with Bridgestone New Zealand and he utilises this skill within the team.
Simon Ingle - staging, all rounder, communications adviser
Simon has been involved through his club Cam County in drag racing for many years including organising the annual Port Road drag meeting. Simon in the not to distant past raced his Demon at most tracks around the country and is well known by most competitors and hot rodders. Simon is a self employed builder and has a hectic social/sports calendar. We’re grateful that both Simon and his wife Lynene have managed to create some space in their calendar to be part of our team which also includes their extended and blended family.
Lynene Ingle – parachutes, camp mum
Lynene has become another integral part of our team and has one of the most important jobs within the team – packing the shutes… Lynene provides moral support and encouragement to all team members and helps ensure that everything is ticking over like clockwork. Lynene’s day job is within management and auditing at Bridgestone New Zealand and we’re stoked that she shares Simon’s passion for drag racing.
Craig (Oscar) Bennett – engine mechanical, reality checker
Craig and his wife Meredith own Hawera Automotive where they specialise in performance engine building. They have two lovely daughters, the youngest, Nicole, competes in the junior dragster class. Craig has built a reputation in the engine building and machining business that has grown from strength to strength every year. His engines out last and out perform his peers in many classes of circuit and speedway racing. We have known Craig for many years and were thrilled and felt privileged when he said he’d commit to our team.
Joel Arcus – clutch, fine tuning, suspension, starting, reality checker
Joel runs his own business in automotive servicing, tuning and engineering and joined us at the start of this project through an introduction by one of our sponsors – Phil Morris. We haven’t looked back since and are privileged once again to have somebody of the calibre of Joel on our team. Joel has worked in a professional motorsport team with the late Possum Bourne and brings many strengths and attributes which are invaluable.
Neville and Karen Algar – team support, photography
Neville, Karen and Bre have been part of our extended family for many years sharing the passion of drag racing. We’re eternally grateful to Karen who has taken up the role of photographer and who has captured the majority of images we have on our website. Bre also is a current top competitor in the junior dragster ranks.
Logan Willmott – website design and creation
Logan designed and created the website and does ongoing maintenance as needed which we are very grateful for. Logan is in his third year at University undertaking a Bachelor of Design degree, majoring in Digitial Media Design. Visit Logan’s website www.loganwillmott.com. We think he’s done some great work.
